Social Impact

In partnership with Roti Bank, a non-profit, food rescue organization, we’ve endeavored to bridge the gap between hunger and excess food. Working with local restaurants or operating out of their own kitchens, Roti Bank has been pulling out all the stops to provide nutritious and safe food for underprivileged communities. In 2020, we helped serve more than 4 million meals across India with Roti Bank, which helped in mitigating the rising hunger situation that came about during the pandemic.

Our education initiatives are focused on a holistic empowerment of children, so they can truly enjoy their childhood while also learning the skills they need to pave a better path to the future. We believe that all children deserve the opportunity to learn and grow into responsible citizens and future leaders. The way to do that is by nurturing their talents, instilling confidence in themselves, and supporting their all-round development. We ensure that our focus schools get all the resources they need for the holistic growth of their students. Our new building for the Sabarmati Special School in Haripad, Kerala, helped create a nurturing environment for children with disabilities for their academic, social, and personal growth. We also constructed a new, fully furnished school building for Government Primary School at Poojanahalli, Bangalore to ensure there were no barriers to their well-rounded education and that they grow up to be strong and self-assured individuals.

We believe that no obstacle should deter skilled and passionate athletes from competing in their sport. We supported the Abhinav Bindra Foundation in training the Refugee Olympics Team for the Tokyo Olympics 2022, providing Olympian trainers Niccolo Campriani and Abhinav Bindra the right resources to help athletes in need. We also supported the training of national-level sports personnel in Bangalore to encourage the sportsmanship spirit among the youth in the city.

In our many years of working with communities in need, we’ve learnt what is needed to thrive and become self-sustaining, especially in rural areas where facilities are at a minimum. We’ve worked with various gram panchayats to provide pure drinking water to 11 villages through 6 RO plants, installed high mast lights and street lights, tarred the roads, and donated garbage trucks for swift and efficient cleaning up of streets and homes. We also built the Bellur Iyengar Yoga Center in Bellur village in Karnataka based on the teaching of B K S Iyengar, to honor the great yoga teacher’s wishes to help young people in the surrounding villages. The facility, complete with a yoga hall having a seating capacity of around 200, accommodations for around 50 participants, and a fully-furnished kitchen and dining hall, also hosts international teachers to bring the very best of education to the area.

Disaster relief needs quick action and the right resources to be mobilized, and we put our quick thinking into action when floods hit Kerala in 2018. We rushed packed food and essential items to affected SLK employees and 60 other families in Alleppey. We also built houses in record time for families whose homes were destroyed by the floods to help them regain their footing in life.
